We were very proud to have been asked by Camping Azerbaijan to produce the sacks for Santa. This is a social project in its third year whereby a ten day hike in the high Causicus mount delivers gifts to children in remote villages.
This year with the help of our upcycled sacks Camping Azerbaijan delivered gifts to 731 children. Purely funded through donations and collections made by the generous people in Baku and around the world children received a visit from Santa and were given books, wooden toys, pens and games.
Today we are posting a short video showing 8 plastics we can live without. We know you may not be able to do all of these all the time BUT watch the video and see what is possible to start with. It all began one cool March evening when Niki invited us to her home for a delicious home cooked Thai meal. That evening turned out to be a memorable milestone in all our lives, as that evening ECO BAKU was born.
Six enthusiastic, energetic, vibrant, creative women under one roof agreed to form a group and launch their first pilot project, designed a logo and raised their glasses in unity to launch on an environmental awareness journey together.
Our Eco Baku Bag for Life project began that day and our interesting, enlightening journey continues as local and international schools join us in our campaign to "Say No to Plastic". Our Afghani refugees Maryam and Reihana who started sewing the first bags, have now been joined by our local Azeri women Jamila and Gunel.
Eco Baku team is teaching, learning and evolving as it experiences exciting changes, interesting stories and reaches out to not only the local but global community as well. The journey has just begun......
